Hi, I’m Alyssia Tennant. This website is used to showcase my journalism experience and writing. I have over four years of experience working within the media in both volunteer and paid positions, which is a testament to my passion for journalism, my hard-working nature, and my willingness to learn.

I hold an Honours research degree from the University of Canberra, which I completed in October 2018. Prior to this, I completed a Bachelor of Journalism at UC, majoring in Social and Digital Campaigning. During my final year, I was employed by the university as a Content Marketing Officer, where I now work. I also currently volunteer as a Reviewer for the not-for-profit media organisation, Right Now.

At UC, I was heavily involved in extra-curricular activities, which I balanced with study to achieve high academic results. Most notably, I was the President of the UC Press Club and Editor of the student publication, Curieux. In 2017, I was awarded the Media Entertainment & Arts Alliance Gordon Burgoyne Memorial Prize for Journalism for my long-form article ‘The High Cost of Low Price Fashion‘. During the same year, I also completed an internship at SBS News and was selected as one of five university students to travel to Qatar and Jordan, as part of the Australia-Middle East Journalism Exchange (AMEJE).

I began my journalism degree part-time at the University of South Australia in 2014. Whilst there, I wrote for their student magazine, Verse, and led the student radio station, UniCast, as well as co-hosting a weekly current affairs show. In June 2015, I began working for Radio Adelaide, starting out as a news presenter and later producing the breakfast show one day a week. At the beginning of 2016, I moved to the Australian Capital Territory where I started working for BMA Magazine as their Sub-Editor and continued my study at the University of Canberra. Formerly, I also coordinated the social media profiles for the online literature and arts journal Feminartsy.
